from the June, 2017 Tidings:
We trust that this may be a beneficial time for all of us….Let me say by way of introduction that my wife, Gladys, and I live just west of Russellville and are residents of Moniteau County. We have two daughters and a granddaughter, all living in the Iowa City, Iowa, area.
While my roots are in the Lutheran Church, I share a lot of kinship with the UCC. My mother came from an Evangelical and Reformed church in Wisconsin. I also have a number of UCC relatives, including three second cousins who have been pastors in the UCC. When I served in Blue Springs we purchased the UCC church building next to the UCC retirement village where your previous Pastor and Virginia Kirchhoff resided. It was a pleasure to get to know them.
As a part-time interim pastor I will not be in California all the time. I do plan to be there at least one day during the week. I expect that this most often will be Wednesday. I continue to do some work from my home. I do wish to be available to you for needs and hospitalizations and emergencies. Feel welcome to contact me when those needs arise.
In closing we hear the words of St. Paul, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.” May we do that as we worship and work together, however long this journey may be.
